Who For? Experienced Practitioners

The NLSSM Bridging Programs are specifically designed for you.

We do this by building on your strengths and experience and addressing your individual needs, allowing you to upgrade your skills and gain a higher professional qualification.

The syllabus is only a guideline and should there be any courses in which you have already taken at an advanced level we will considered these for exemption when applying.

Please contact to determine your eligibility and to discuss what options are best for your needs.

To be eligible, students must:

  • Have successfully completed a Level 4 course in Sports Massage with a minimum of 2 years experience.
  • Having continued to do advanced CPD courses.
  • Be working full time as a soft tissue therapist.
  • Hold a current first aid certificate.
  • Have appropriate insurance.
  • Be a member of a professional association.

These can be taken in any order. We do however recommend that you take the Sports Massage Refresher weekend prior to embarking on MET and STR classes.

  • Sports Massage Refresher - Deep Tissue Massage
  • Muscle Energy Technique - PIR (MET)
  • Muscle Energy Technique - RI (MET)
  • Soft Tissue Release (STR)
  • Postural Assessment
  • Stretch Workshop
  • Introduction to Neuromuscular Techniques (NMT)
  • Biomechanics

In addition to the practical workshops each candidate will need to complete the following prior to taking their final BTEC Level 5 Sports and Remedial Massage exams:

  • 3 Written assignments
  • 3 Practical Assessments, General Massage, MET & STR
  • 1 In-depth Case Study
  • 100 Logbook Hours

You can take the above suggested workshops without having to register for BTEC at this time. When you are ready to do the course work etc then you can send in your CPD/Bridging Application. Meanwhile you can build up your portfolio, so that when the time comes, you have already done some of the required practical days.

Courses take place on either Saturdays, Sundays or Tuesdays over a period determined by the course selected.

Each Bridging Course schedule is designed and put together for the needs of the individual. If you want an idea of when the classes are held please refer to the schedules tab and pick a course around the time you would like to begin.

Course times at the London venues:

Single days, Saturdays & Sundays 9am - 4pm
Tuesdays 10am - 5pm
